Untreated tooth decay can make it hard for a child to eat, sleep, focus in class, and feel good about themselves. And it falls hardest on kids with the fewest resources — children in low-income households are far more likely to have untreated cavities than their higher-income peers.
The hopeful part? Most of it is preventable. Simple habits — brushing with fluoride toothpaste, flossing, cutting back on sugary drinks — dramatically reduce decay. When we teach those habits early and give kids the tools to practice them, we change the trajectory of their health for years to come.
That’s the whole idea behind Atomic Smile: meet children early, make prevention joyful, and keep the door to care open for every family.
